World record for biggest wave surfed by a female set by Brazil's Maya Gabeira

A new world record for the biggest ever wave surfed by a female was declared on Thursday.

Brazil’s Maya Gabeira set the benchmark at Praia do Norte in Portugal on 11th February 2020, during the World Surf League’s

inaugural Nazare Tow Surfing Challenge.

Gabeira’s wave was measured at 73.5 feet, eclipsing her own previous world record of 68 feet.
