100FT WAVES in Portugal 🏄‍♀️ where to find them #Nazare

100 foot waves?!!! 🤯🤯🤯

💾 Save this post for your travel plans of the future!

We went on a day trip to Nazaré, Portugal. A beach town a 1.5 hour drive from Lisbon that’s known for it’s whopping great waves 🌊

The ‘big wave season’ runs between October – March and you can check just how big the waves are gonna be for the days ahead on nazarewaves.com 👩‍💻

If you’re lucky enough to be in the area when there’s ‘Giant Waves’ which reach heights of 20-30 metres, keep checking to see if the Nazaré Tow Surfing Challenge gets announced. It could be at any point between now and the end of the season.

🏄‍♀️ It’s a competition where professional surfers will try their luck against huge waves – I would have LOVED to have witnessed it with my own eyes.

It’s also worth saying that Nazaré is just a 2 hour drive down from Porto as well – so it’s definitely one to keep checking on if you’re planning a trip already and this sounds right up your street 🔎

🎬 Footage used from World Surf League and Guinness World Record’s YouTube channels – I have devoured their videos since visiting and can’t get over how high those waves get – and the fact people choose to get amongst them! Go give them a watch 👍

📣 COMMENT IF…

You’ve been to Nazaré and seen some big ol’ waves for yourself – or if this is something you’d love to see for yourself too 👀

Actually, some of the biggest waves in The world have been recorded just off of the west coast of Vancouver island near Ucluelet Bc. Canada …..just north of Washington state and south of Alaska. Fact.
