We got hit by a rogue wave off of North Carolina. The wave broke over us in a 42’ fishing boat. It broke over us filling the rear cockpit. We all made it inside the cabin as closed the doors before it hit. We were 110 miles off shore. The boat sunk on the next trip out of the inlet from the structural damage done to the exhaust system. The Coast Guard responded, put three pumps on the boat, all three pumps failed to start. The vessel sank right beside the Coast Guard cutter, all were safe.
"Crowd on every inch of sail!" "Clew up! Clew up!" "Tops'ls, gallants, royals, stuns!" "Reef the mains, half-sail!" "Loose the tops'ls, gallants, and royals!" "Mains out, let's get moving!"
Jeeeeeezus. Going over that high of a wave at that speed is going to be a rough landing and you'll probably break some shit, but atleast you won't be underwater.

Remember, rogue waves were considered a myth and captains ridiculed for saying it until 1995.
vet knew what to do
Up and over good job capt.
Yeah that wouldn't have felt good taking it broadside.
People used to think they were a myth for a long time and you just casually capture one of the few true videos of a rogue wave
‘We need a bigger boat….’
Woah. I think this might be the first video of a true rogue I’ve ever seen.
Nobody gonna tell him about the bouy he missed before the wave
